Castiglione della Pescaia
Situated in the heart of Maremma, Castiglione della Pescaia in one of the most desirable tourist attraction thanks to its sandy beaches and its crystal clear waters.
It was awarded several times for it’s sea and it’s suggestive nature.
The town is divided into two parts: in the low part, the most recent, there are many businesses, bars and restaurants while in the oldest one, that is also the high part, people can admire a medieval castle. This part was founded in the Middle Ages and walking through it’s streets people can enjoy a breathtaking view of the Castiglione and visit the church of San Giovanni and Santa Maria del Giglio, with its beautiful clock tower, and the Centuriorni Palace, the oldest building of the town, that once was the administrative local centre. The building has been recently restored and it hosts also exhibitions.
In this part there is also the cemetery, that hosts one of the most representative poets of the italian literature: Italo Calvino.
